Text Analysis Glossary
- Character Count
- Total number of characters including spaces. Unicode-based, so emoji count as 1 character.
- Word Count
- Number of words. English uses space delimiters; Japanese requires morphological analysis (kuromoji).
- Byte Count
- Data size of text. Same character = different bytes depending on encoding. UTF-8: Japanese = 3 bytes. Shift_JIS = 2 bytes.
- Morphological Analysis
- NLP technique splitting text into minimum semantic units. This tool uses kuromoji.js for Japanese word segmentation in-browser.
How Browser-Side Text Analysis Works
All processing runs in client-side JavaScript. No API calls. Uses kuromoji.js for Japanese morphological analysis and compromise for English NLP.
